Simply cut the mesh to slightly bigger than your pots drainage hole and lay mesh at the bottom of your pot. Pot up your plant as usual.
This will ensure you don't loose any potting mix out the bottom of your pot but will still allow the water to drain freely when watering. Fantastic for handmade pottery or terracotta pots with larger drainage holes.
Also a little plant hack is when you are watering plants in the sink, place a piece of the mesh over the sink drainage hole to capture any escaping potting mix that could potentially piece build up and block the drain! Then simply lift up and discard what substrate it has captured.

Inside the pot. The mesh is perfect for any size pot as it can be cut to size if using it in smaller pots. Keeps the soil in but the water still draining when watering. A go to for me that I keep needing to re-order especially in the spring re-pot season. I try to re-use as much as possible during repotting just giving it a thorough clean.
